Stakeholder
Engagement

In today’s organizational landscape, it is more critical than ever for companies to engage stakeholders at every level, to drive change and maximize their impact. While there is no “one size fits all” solution, Orangefiery has learned several essential concepts for developing an effective stakeholder engagement strategy over the years.

We create plans to identify stakeholders who are aligned with our client’s goals and engage them in activities that build relationships and drive change. We work with our clients to develop strategies that effectively engage key stakeholders on issues of mutual interest. Our stakeholder engagement strategies help companies build meaningful relationships, align on key issues and drive change.

We have experience engaging with various stakeholder groups, including:

Key opinion leaders

Thought leaders from academia and think tanks

Policy Influencers

Third-party advocacy leaders

Media spokespersons

Cultural influencers and trend-setters

Our Stakeholder
Engagement Approach

Stakeholder mapping

We conduct desk research, in-depth interviews and focus group sessions to gain insights on key issues in our client’s space. Looking at the issue landscape, we map which stakeholder groups are active in shaping the public dialogue on these issues. This research gives us background into priority stakeholders in their space, as well as their position on key topics and overall influence.

Our stakeholder mapping exercise provides in-depth stakeholder profiles, so we have a deep perspective on each stakeholder’s position on an issue, public statements, goals and activities. This picture allows us to understand which groups are aligned with each other, and which groups have the greatest potential to influence an issue.

Plan development

Once we’ve completed the stakeholder mapping exercise and determined which stakeholders are top priority for our clients’ organizations, we develop an engagement strategy by considering the following questions:

What are your organization’s goals (near-term and long-term)?

What is your organization’s mission?

What are your core values?

What about this issue is of mutual interest?

Strategically, what are we trying to achieve?

With these insights, we help our clients develop customized stakeholder engagement plans that align with their goals.

Activation

Once we’ve gathered insights about stakeholders, defined their positioning on key issues and topics and developed a strategy to engage stakeholders in their work, we activate our plan in the real world.

We work cross-functionally with our clients to implement stakeholder engagement strategies. We help them manage and address pain points and challenges that appear along the way, as well as provide ongoing support across channels that are used to communicate and engage with stakeholders. Ultimately we are able to track progress through a combination of quantitative and qualitative feedback, demonstrating progress on issues of mutual interest, while positioning our clients as leaders in the space.
