Challenge
Gossamer Bio, dedicated to serving unmet medical needs by focusing on understanding the patient experience engaged Orangefiery to help them create a streamlined approach to advocacy engagement at the organizational level.
Approach
Discover
We began by conducting a series of executive interviews to understand their advocacy priorities. The executives unanimously agreed that patient-centricity was one of the areas they wanted to be known for. Through careful analysis of these interviews we deduced the primary themes and insights and took them into a workshop with key members of scientific affairs, medical affairs, clinical development, regulatory, program management and commercial.
Develop
- We used these findings as fodder for discussion and to align on how to best structure an advocacy relations function that could be both central (managed by the Medical Affairs team) and collaborative (with systems to allow for two-way discussion between siloed clinical development program teams).
Deploy
- In the weeks following, we created a comprehensive Advocacy Playbook that outlined important definitions, structures and governance for the advocacy function, including the definition of advocacy, how the advocacy relations function would be structured, and processes and templates including advocacy engagement principles and governance, roles and responsibilities and meeting agenda templates.
Results
Our client gained a tailored, quick to deploy guide to advocacy relations that met the unique structural needs and collaboration dynamics of the organization and enabled them to continue to put patients at the center of their work.
