Challenge
Gamida Cell needed clear and impactful quarterly earnings communications, including establishing an approach to report on commercial progress post-FDA approval and transparently communicate about its challenging financial position and search for strategic alternatives.

Prior to engaging with Orangefiery, Gamida Cell did not have a clear process for developing strategic earnings communications via press release and conference call. We worked with the team to develop a process for cross-functional information gathering, messaging alignment, and content development and reviews.
Approximately one month in advance of each quarterly earnings, we developed a communications brief outlining communications goals, key messages, roles and responsibilities, anticipated timing and review process. We aligned with leadership on each brief before drafting materials to streamline the time and input required for content development, review and finalization.
Develop
- When needed, Orangefiery worked with key internal and external stakeholders to gather information for content development (e.g., medical team insights for data milestone announcements, partner organizations for press releases including third-party quotes).
- Orangefiery drafted press releases, earnings call scripts and supporting materials (e.g., social posts, media pitches, internal communications) and coordinated their review.
- Orangefiery worked with leadership to review proactive and reactive messaging and conduct mock interview/Q&A sessions to prep for their interactions with investors and media.
Deploy
- Orangefiery coordinated the conference calls using a vendor platform, the distribution of press releases and supporting materials, pitched media (as appropriate), and monitored for media coverage and message pull-through with covering analysts. We also liaised with an external investor relations firm coordinating one-on-one investor meetings.
Results
Over the course of the year, earnings communications efforts resulted in:
Aligned message pull-through in covering analyst reports and media coverage
Successful quarterly earnings conference calls with ~100+ attendees, and constructive questions and feedback
A well-prepared leadership team able to effectively communicate commercial progress and financial status
