Challenge
The Lowe’s Foundation announced its new commitment to skilled trades and awarded its inaugural Gable Grants to national partners, community colleges and community-based organizations. With its strategic shift announced, new working board model implemented, and first round of grants awarded, the Lowe’s Foundation board members and core team members needed to align and define its five-year strategic priorities and corresponding roadmap.
Approach
Gather insights from key stakeholders
We conducted 30+ stakeholder interviews with Lowe’s Foundation board members, internal priority stakeholders, third-party advocates, vendors and grantees to check in on perceptions of progress to date, areas of continued improvement and brainstorm longer-term opportunities.
Interactive workshop with board members
- We facilitated an in-person workshop for board members to review stakeholder findings and dive into priority areas for board members and ideas to implement these priorities.
Five-year strategic roadmap
- We developed a five-year strategic roadmap for the Lowe’s Foundation, focusing on key priority areas for the Foundation team, desired longer-term impact and robust multi-stakeholder engagement recommendations.
Results
- Key insights from 30 priority external and internal stakeholders
- Half-day interactive planning workshop with board members
- Five-year strategic roadmap prioritizing key areas of focus and how to execute against these areas to deliver on desired outcomes
